LOUD CRY #5: I'm going to play the two types of final messages one more day. #1, When I was a youth pastor, we had all the kids up in the mountains for a weekend. The youth director played a little game, had all the kids baptized already on one end, "Heaven," and all those not baptized at the other end, "Hell." If you want to get out of hell, walk across the floor, get baptized. WOW. Another talk talked about torture in the Last Days. I started getting phone calls from parents about kids who had to sleep with their parents that night, scared to death. Terrible. #2, Hilda and I are sitting in the HR office getting ready for retirement, when the lady says, "You know you have a lump sum coming from the Health System." "I do?" She hadn't worked for them for over 35 years. It was good news, unexpected news, unbelievable news, that made the future look a lot better! Which is the Loud Cry--loud, threatening? Being married to a Dutch girl we have been to Anne Frank's house several times. I will never get the sound of the police sirens in the movie out of my mind, as the family cowered in their hiding place, wondering if it was their turn for the dreaded knock on the door--which, of course, eventually came? Or will the Loud Cry be the final, best, clearest message about our amazing God, better news than we could ever have imagined? You win the lottery, you call the number and go pick up your money! You find out you're cancer free, you call everybody. You hear God is actually better than you thought, you follow. With a fist pump, YESSSS!

2. BUS for BANGLADESH--$15,000. On the campus of BASC (Bangladesh Seminary & College) where we were in February, we have a nursing college with 300 lovely young nursing students. But the two administrators pleaded with us for help to buy a large van to transport the nursing students. Because they have no hospital, they have to send them out to various hospitals for their clinical experience, some quite a distance away. It is a constant challenge to find vehicles or rent cheap tuk-tuk-type vehicles to take them. They need a van, $36,000. They have raised $21,000 so far, which is amazing. We have not promised to do the rest, but promised to pray and do what we could. We would love to tell them that their prayers have been answered. They are such fine, fine people. Yes, many of the students are Muslim, and couldn't come to our Youth Congress. But we would love for the administrators to be able to announce that Christians around the world have banded together to help them have this bus!
